Friday is a birthday day

Last Friday we started celebrating my swedish roommate Katarina's birthday, an event which lasted two days. We rose early to participate in the first ever womens run in Nepal, the Kathmandhu Pinkathon, a grand event with over 2000 (female) participants. Nepali women are not shy when it comes to celebrating and brought a lively energy with them early in the morning - see pictures from the run here:

Following the run, we had a night out in Thamel where we rented a hotel room with a hot shower for the morning, a luxury. Saturday was spent waking up on a thick mattress, visiting the European market, and of course, doing a bit of grocery shopping for taco night. We had planned to make taco's as a way to have a birthday party with our hostel family as well. Bean and paneer masala tacos with real guacomole, pico de gallo, and cilantro lime rice, following a chocolate birthday cake - which I think the hostel kids were the more excited about then anything else.

Prasana dancing, doing showing her moves. A daily show we see.

Ben tries to grab the knife to cut the cake - so eager for chocolate.

Prasana getting on the table to dance a little.
