Devils Tower, Wyoming

This tower, this national monument, is not like others. You see, every angle of the Devils Tower is unique. As we trailed around the monument, rising up from the earth with nothing but flatland around, there was a new perspective to discover with every few steps or so. This is why there are various pictures of the tower below; each is from a different point on the trail that encircles the tower.

We were alone in the park, as we arrived at dawn as its first visitors. While walking the path, we would separate by one of us stopping in our tracks to get on the ground, walk a little into the woods, climb some of the surrounding rocks, or simply to watch the light shift when the sun rose over the mountains in the far distance. It was beautiful. We had left our cabin in South Dakota when it was still starry out in order to see said shift, and, as usual, it was worth it.
