Jutland, Denmark

Ah, the yearly trip back. It consists of good food, good drinks, and most importantly, good company.

We stayed in the city of my childhood, Askov, for the first couple of days, living in my aunts house. Its peculiar the things I remember when being back there - its like traveling back in time. I visit the town church and the same feeling of solace flows over me as when I sat on the back pew, alone in the afternoons. I bike the same route, through the town, which I biked every day of my childhood on my way to school and on the way I remember who lives in the houses that pass, and how I have memories in nearly every single one of them. I visit the dam and admire its beauty, again. I think of what my life would have been like if I had stayed here, and how I feel so very different because I didn't. This is what it feels like to visit home.

On the trip back, there is of course, the one day of pure exploration. It didn't go to another country this year, but just another city - Århus, the city of what I hope will become my future. I was dropped off by my brother, and left to wander the streets. And I did, for hours on end, leaving me with large blisters that stayed for weeks afterwards. I visited some churches, shops, a lovely sandwhich shack, where I sat for a while and did some research on schools. I then found the address for the school of journalism, which I visited. Thus passed my 10 days home.
